SIX NATIONS ABERDEEN LONG LUNCH

THE CHESTER HOTEL

22 FEBRUARY 2020

Sponsored by CNR International

Welcome all to join us and Alex Fleming, our MC and wonderful supporter of our Foundation for yet another afternoon of fun and friendship based around the 6 Nations Rugby Tournament.

We may not be able to match the tensions of the last Long Lunch, when Scotland amazingly came back from the dead to draw at Twickenham, but you can be assured of a great day out.

Kick off this rugby packed day with a reception drink at 11am followed by a three course meal and informal chat about the impending Italy v Scotland game with a special rugby personality. We’ll then watch the game on Big Screens, with refreshments and Q&A at half time.

Wrap up after the games with a snack and a few more beers and why not stay on for the Wales v France match at 4.45pm

  • Drink on arrival
  • 3-course lunch
  • Pies at half-time

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

AYR COMMUNITY RUGBY TRUST

WITH

BRAIN O'DRISCOLL & ANDY NICOL (MC)

We are delighted to partner once again with Ayr Community Trust Rugby for this highly popular annual lunch at Ayr Racecourse.  Andy Nicol will lead the proceedings with his usual wit and flair, and we're excited to announce that Brian O'Driscoll will be joining him as our special guest!

Brian O'Driscoll is a former professional Rugby Union player who captained and played for Leinster, Ireland and The Lions over a period of fifteen years.  He retired from professional sport in 2014 and now works in a number of capacities in the Business and Sporting world.

O'Driscoll is the second most-capped player in rugby union history, having played 141 test matches: 133 for Ireland (83 as captain), and 8 for the British and Irish Lions. He scored 46 tries for Ireland and 1 try for the Lions in 2001, making him the highest try scorer of all time in Irish Rugby. He is the 8th-highest try scorer in international rugby union history, and the highest scoring centre of all time. He is regarded by critics as one of the greatest rugby players of all time.

THE ITALIAN JOB III  SOLD OUT

A LONG LUNCH WITH

SCOTT QUINNELL, MICHAEL LYNAGH

& JILL DOUGLAS(MC)

SPONSORED BY CONDUIT FINANCE

Boroughmuir Community Sports Club and the Bill McLaren Foundation are proud to once again be coming together to host one of the most anticipated events in the rugby calendar during February 2019.

Hosted in the magnificent BT Murrayfield President's Suite the day before the Scotland v Italy Six Nations clash, this fantastic gathering will have something for everyone. The Italian Job III is a collaboration between Boroughmuir Community Sports Club and the Bill McLaren Foundation and has previously had great feedback in 2015 and 2017. The lunch event will celebrate Scottish and connections and the ‘fantastico’ game of rugby!

Hosted by sports commentator Jill Douglas, 500 guests from all walks of life will have great fun and help add to the near £80,000 for charity that was raised in 2015 and 2017.

And those in attendance will get to hear from two amazing guest speakers who will be in attendance.

Scott Quinnell played over 50 times for Wales and turned out for the British & Irish Lions on their tours in 1997 and 2001. He also played for his country at rugby league.

Michael Lynagh was the vice-captain of the Australia team that won the World Cup in 1991 and, in all, the stand-off earned 72 caps for his country scoring over 900 points.

Both men now work for Sky Sports as pundits and have their fingers on the pulse of everything that is going on in the modern game.

Stevie Douglas, the Boroughmuir rugby president, said:  “We are delighted to work with the Bill McLaren Foundation again for this event.

“It is always great fun and the fact that lots of people have been asking me about it for the last few months so they can secure tickets shows just how popular it has become.”

Alan Lawson from the Bill McLaren Foundation added:  “This event has fast become one of the ‘must attend’ rugby functions around Six Nations time and we enjoy working with those at Boroughmuir to bring it together.

“The Italian Job III is shaping up nicely and I look forward to meeting rugby lovers from far and wide there.”

The Italian Job III is being sponsored by Edinburgh based Corporate Finance advisory firm, Conduit Finance. Jamie Davidson, the founder of the company, said:  “We are proud to once again support such a fantastic cause. To be associated with a charity and an event that helps engage people with the spirit of rugby is very satisfying.

“The growth of the event in recent years had been exciting to see. We are looking forward to what will be another lively event that will help the Bill McLaren Foundation increase engagement in our special sport.”
