THE

ITALIAN JOB II

The Bill McLaren Voice of Rugby Dinner

Supported By Carbon Financial Partners Ltd

We are delighted to be back again at Prestonfield House Hotel for our flagship Voice of Rugby Dinner on the eve of the Scotland Wales international in the 6 Nations Championship.

We have an excellent line-up of guest speakers for the night and are planning at least one surprise in keeping with last year’s format.

We’re delighted to announce that Rory Lawson and Gethin Jones are our joint MCs for the evening . Rory, Bill's McLaren's  grandson has become an accomplished MC as well as a pundit on SKY and Gethin is a popular TV presenter, a "pin up" of the girls and a mad keen rugby fan.

Gerald Davies CBE is arguably not only one of the all time greats of world rugby but also happens to be the greatest rugby orator of his or any generation. In a glittering amateur career Gerald played 46 times for Wales winning 3 Grand Slams and scoring 20 tries. Many of us will remember with some sadness his last minute try against Scotland in 1971. He went on 2 Lions tours and played in all the tests during the only successful tour of New Zealand (to date). Gerald wrote for the Times for many years, has managed the Lions and serves on the Lions committee and is currently Chairman of the Pro 12 league.

In keeping with the Welsh connection and Lions year we are delighted that Martyn Williams MBE will also be joining us. Martyn was the first Welsh player to reach 100 caps and in a stellar career he won 2 Grand Slams and toured with the Lions twice playing in 4 tests. Gareth Edwards described him this way,

"Martyn has been a great example of the modern game and has been the ultimate professional". Martin works  in the financial sector and is also a commentator for the BBC.

Andy Nicol has launched a successful broadcasting career since retiring from Rugby and is a popular and successful front man at business and sporting events. VOICE OF RUGBY DINNER

In partnership with

PEEBLES RFC

We are delighted to be partnering with Peebles RFC for an inaugural Voice of Rugby Dinner at Peebles Hydro. We have a fantastic line-up of guest speakers and invite everyone to join us for a memorable evening of rugby entertainment.

Zinzan Brooke is highly regarded as one of the best rugby players of all time. He played 58 tests for the All Blacks in the number eight position but had the running and kicking skills of a back line player which made him extremely mobile and agile as a forward. Scoring 17 tries in Test matches (then a world record), we also look forward to hearing his memories on that infamous 48-meter drop goal during the 1995 Rugby World Cup match against England.

We’ll also be joined by former England and British Lions rugby union hooker Brian Moore. Moore played in three World Cups, won three Gland Slams (1991, 1992 and 1996), went on two British Lions tours and in 1991 was voted Rugby World Player of the Year. Since retiring from rugby, he has become an uncompromising commentator on sport, broadcasting for the BBC and writing for The Daily Telegraph, for which he was nominated for Sports Journalist of the Year at the British Press Awards in 2009.

Our Master of Ceremonies, Scotty Glynn is a born entertainer with a gift to make us laugh. He’s also reputedly the first professional rugby player in East Lothian and he might tell us why…. Sit back and enjoy his tales of everyday life and rugby.

AYR LONG LUNCH

In partnership with

Ayr Community Rugby Trust

Returning to Ayr Racecourse for a 3rd successful year, we are excited to welcome Ayr Community Rugby Trust on board to help grow this annual event and increase the support for Ayrshire Rugby.

Keith Wood still proudly holds the world record for a hooker, scoring 15 tries in his 58 Tests for Ireland between 1994-2003. He made his debut at 21 against the Wallabies in 1994 and, as a natural leader, went on to captain Ireland in 38 Tests. Wood also made a name for himself as a Lion, playing in 5 Tests. He was one of the tour’s stand out players in both 1997 and 2001, winning the inaugural IRB Player of the Year award in the latter year. Following his glistening rugby career, Wood is a sought after public speaker, runs a PR company and is a TV pundit for the BBC.

Andy Nicol has launched a successful broadcasting career since retiring from Rugby and is a popular and successful front man at business and sporting events. Andy played 23 times for Scotland and captained the national team in the famous win in 2000 over the Auld Enemy which thwarted their Grand Slam ambitions that year.

Doddie Weir is a captivating, larger than life character. He was the power house of the Scottish scrum during his rugby career which saw him win 61 caps, appearing in 3 World Cups and featuring in the 1997 British Lions tour to South Africa. Doddie in one of the UK’s top professional sports speakers, bringing his entertaining anecdotes from his career and charming personality to every event.
