The Bill McLaren Foundation are delighted to be the official charity for this weekend's Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s.
In the past year, The Bill McLaren Foundation has given ?100,000 to clubs and good causes, large and small. In Glasgow alone, the host city of this year's tournament, we’re delighted to be working with rugby clubs to introduce and develop rugby in eighteen schools as well as to be working with rugby clubs through our Positive Coaching Scotland programme.
The Foundation needs your help to continue to do this and are asking everyone at this weekend’s Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s to donate just ?1. They're making it as easy as possible by asking you to text your donation…
Dominic McKay, Director of Communications for Scottish Rugby said “The Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s is a truly global event, watched by 200 million people around the world, and we’re proud that we have the Bill McLaren Foundation as our official charity partner.”
“We expect to have 30, 000 people at Scotstoun Stadium this weekend and if each of them is able to donate just one pound, it will be of great benefit and support to the Foundation invest in grassroots rugby”.
Even if you're not attending the 7s in person - the Foundation are asking all rugby fans to pledge just ?1. This will enable them to further their aims:
- To develop and promote the sport of rugby union and its values
- To encourage and provide sporting opportunities for young people
- To create an educative centre which will include the Bill McLaren Archive
