The Voice of Rugby Dinner
11th February 2011, Prestonfield House Hotel, Edinburgh
The inaugural major fundraising event in Scotland for the Bill McLaren Foudation took place at Prestonfield, Edinburgh on Friday 11th February - the eve of the Scotland v Wales rugby international.
The packed house of close to 500 people in 'The Stables' were, following on from a delicious four course dinner, royally entertained by former rugby international and British Lion Scott 'Rampaging Rhinocerous' Quinnell, master of voices Rory Bremner, Professor David Purdie and singer Henry Douglas. The dinner was elegantly chaired and controlled by broadcaster Jill Douglas.
Fundraising was impressive with auctioneer Willie Hunter soliciting some wonderful bids for a variety of items including paintings by John Lowrie Morrison and Hugh Dodd, business class & four star accommodation for the Dubai Sevens and a money can't buy prize for the week of the Scotland v Italy international involving lunch with the team, a pre match visit to the changing room and hospitality throughout the day and at the team dinner with SRU president Ian Mclauchan.
