Rugby Clubs we need you...
The Bill McLaren Foundation is committed to working in partnership with your club or organisation to generate income for both you and the Foundation to achieve its goals.
Join Now - www.billmclarenfoundation.co.uk/support
By working with the Foundation your club can receive:
- Funding support for important club projects, help with funding of development officers or finance for a tour
- Access to the Foundation’s archive to assist with fund raising
- Other benefits from being associated with the Foundation
Your support will serve three purposes:
- To develop and promote the sport of rugby union and its values
- To encourage and provide sporting opportunities for young people
- To create an educative centre which will include the Bill McLaren Archive
Like the great man himself this will be done in a planned and organised way and we will work with you to ensure that we both can benefit from this work.
These are stages that you should go through to maximize the potential income that can be generated.
Stage 1 – Join the Supporters’ Club
The club should if they have not already done so join the foundation as a member club. (£50 per year) this can be done by completing this form.
Stage 2 – Choose your BOF
We recommend that you appoint someone to be a BOF (Bill’s Old Friend) who will act as the main point of contact between the Foundation and your club/organisation. This is an important role which could develop as our network and scale of operation increases. The BOF will receive an appreciation for their efforts (stage 3 below) by the Foundation by way of a pullover from our sponsors Johnstons Cashmere, a bottle of Whisky from another of our sponsors The Famous Grouse and of course a tin of Hawick Balls made famous by Bill in addition to these we will provide you the opportunity to attend Foundation events.
Stage 3 – Recruit your members
The club, through the Foundation BoF, will be asked to recruit at least 50 individual members of the Bill Mclaren Foundation (£20 per year), we will provide application forms for this. The BoF would be encouraged to continue the recruitment process in subsequent years
Stage 4 – Use us to fundraise
The BMF will then work with the club to run a dinner/lunch/auction etc to raise funds for the club and provide a copy or copies of Bill’s famous big sheets for auction (these go for between £300 and £3000), the proceeds of this will be halved with the club, this support can be given on an annual basis
Stage 5 – Anything & everything else!
The Foundation will be happy to explore with clubs other areas of mutual benefit
Funding support to clubs is facilitated through completing a grant application form and the Foundation will assist you in the completion of this form. Grants will be welcomed for projects up to £5k and applications can be submitted annually. Wherever possible the Foundation’s aim is to support local clubs.
